Child and Adolescent Therapy.
Who can I help?
I specialise in offering therapy for children and young people between the ages of 4 and 18 and I have a Diploma in Psychotherapy for Children and Young People.
I can also provide therapeutic support including psychoeducation for parents, families or care-givers.
I have extensive experience of working with children who have experienced trauma, loss and disrupted attachments.
My setting
I work within a child friendly environment which is easily accessible and with a waiting space for parents.
What will the therapeutic relationship be like for your child?
As an integrative therapist working with children and young people, I adapt my approach to meet each individual’s age, needs, personalities and interests.
Young people often find it hard to express feelings and experiences in words and with this in mind I include many creative elements in my work to offer alternative methods for exploration and igniting the imagination. These include drawing and painting, clay, sand tray and figures, puppets and drama.
How I work
I offer a free initial consultation lasting 20 minutes by phone. This is followed by an hour-long assessment involving both the child or young person and their parent or carer. Together, we will then discuss and agree a programme of therapy for the child or young person going forward.
Therapy can be short-term, focused on a particular difficulty, or it may take place over a longer period of time.
Children and young people who experience more significant difficulties or have complex issues, may need longer term treatment.
Please contact me to arrange a free 20-minute phone call to see how I can support your child.
